What Kind of New Orleans Tour Should You Take?
New Orleans has a tour for just about every interest. If this is your first visit, a French Quarter tour is a great introduction to the city. You’ll see the famous sights, but more importantly, you’ll hear the stories that aren’t obvious when you’re simply walking down the street.
If food is your thing, consider a New Orleans food tour. This is one of my favorite ways to explore the city because you get to eat while learning about the people and cultures that created our local cuisine. And believe me, there is no shortage of things to taste.
There are also history and architecture tours, including walks through the French Quarter and Garden District. These are especially good if you want to understand why New Orleans looks so different from almost any other American city.
Music lovers can explore the places connected to the city’s incredible musical history, while cemetery and ghost tours offer a look at some of the more unusual—and sometimes downright strange—parts of New Orleans.
And don’t forget what’s outside the city. Swamp and bayou tours take you into the wetlands of South Louisiana, where you may see alligators, birds and other wildlife.
