High octane musical and comedic performances, inspirational speakers, this three-day party founded by Essence magazine is the perfect thing to do over the July Fourth weekend.
Folks from around the country descend on New Orleans to enjoy our unique blend of food, culture and entertainment. There are evening performances, lounge shows in intimate settings and even parties by top DJs. They have international stars like Mariah Carey and Puff Daddy as well as our local superstars like Trombone Shorty.
At the Convention Center the Empowerment Experience features dozens of well-known speakers and authors to discuss topics such as economics, religion and education. And these are usually free.
Outdoor markets are created around the Superdome area where you’ll see fine arts, crafts, jewelry and clothing in a demonstration of the richness of African diaspora culture.
