Fritzel’s European Jazz Club

Fritzels-European-Jazz-Pub-on-Bourbon-Street-New-Orleans

Considered one of the best bars and Jazz clubs in New Orleans, this German style pub is one of the few remaining bastions of “traditional” jazz in the city.

Housed in an 1831 building Fritzel’s is home for some of the city’s best musicians and is its oldest operating jazz club. The music is first class and fun. Artists from every continent have played here.

They do not serve food here but as they say “our drinks are delicious!” The full bar has a variety of schnapps and German beers on tap. You have to be 21 to access the bar but you can still bring in your kiddies to listen to the music and sit at one of the tables. They will have to order a coke or juice or something for each set.

The club is right there on Bourbon Street but at the far end of it closer to Esplanade where the street becomes more sedate and not as noisy as it gets toward Canal Street. The music is excellent and the patrons are fun.
